Meeting Emmylou Harris

Last night my wife Gail and I were guests for the Last Waltz 50 Year Celebration concert at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN.  We were thrilled to be invited by Emmylou Harris.  As some of you may or may not know, I have a web design company that I started back around 2000.  I've done Emmylou's website for many years (www.emmylouharris.com) and have also donated my time for a website for her wonderful organization, Bonaparte's Retreat, which is a dog adoption agency for wayward dogs in need of homes.  I'd never met her until last night in all this time.  She could not have been sweeter to us!  She looks and sounds amazing!

Oh yeah, also on the bill was my friend and boss, Michael McDonald.  He joined the stage for Neil Young's "Helpless" and "The Shape I'm In" by the Band.  Mike sounded great as always.  Also on the bill was Vince Gill, Nathaniel Ruteliff, Darius Rucker and Robbie Robertson.  I don't know all the names of the "house" band but they were incredible... Warren Hayes on guitar and vocals, Don Was on bass (who remembered me from when I played on "Take It To Heart" which he produced), Lukas Nelson, whose performance of Bob Dylan's "Forever Young" was stunning.  Lukas is the son of Willie Nelson and also plays a mean guitar!.  Jamey Johnson also played guitar and handled vocals.  The four piece horn section was so good!  I've never heard the tuba sound so great!

It's been a busy week attending shows here in Nashville, also seeing my friends in The Doobie Brothers the other night when Michael joined them for "Takin' It To the Streets" and announcing their 50 year Doobie Brothers anniversary tour next year.
